Benzema to Arsenal??

·      I have heard some rumors today about the transfer of Benzema out of Real Madrid and Luis Suarez to again push his original move to Real Madrid through. Now I would be stunned if Arsenal got Benzema and Suarez went to Real Madrid.

With that said, I would love if Benzema made the switch to the EPL for Arsenal. I have been a huge fan of his for years and always wanted to see him pull on the Red and White (or Blue and Yellow for this year). Benzema is a fantastic talent who crushed Ligue 1 with Lyon and has been a consistent threat in front at Real. Also, he is less bitey and presumably less racist than our once target Suarez. He would be one heck of a steal and I welcome those advances. Although, I still highly doubt it will go through given Wengers spending habits. I highly doubt that Real Madrid will sell Benzema as well especially since they unloaded Higuain… our big swing and a miss of the transfer window.

·        But with Isco, Di Maria, Ronaldo and Bale… Benzema could be on the move. I see Benzema as their main striker up top and relishing playing with that amazing core Real have built. I mean, they have Kaka and Modric sinking in just behind that strike force as well. What a great headache to have for Ancelotti. I think that Benzema will become more comfortable in his role for Los Blancos this year and thrive...

·        But then we have the issue of balancing the books for Financial Fair Play purposes. If Real spend £80-90+ on Bale, keep in mind they have officially purchased Casemiro for £5.3M, Isco for £26.4M, Illarramendi for £26.4M and Bale for what could be roughly £80-90M… looks like they aren’t listening to the rules, chief. They’ll have to sell.

So with this said, I would love this juicy rumor of Benzema to come to Arsenal for the estimated £40M. Wenger needs to spend, he needs depth and he needs to appease the fans with something, anything!! This would be not only a great buy, a financially shrewd move (in my eyes as he would be a fantastic pick up) but also a marquee signing that the fans are lighting their torches for.

     Thoughts?

Numero Uno

So this is my first post. I have been reading everything people have been posting and writing about (or making up) for years now and thought I'd toss my hat into the ring.

Today was the first leg of the Champions League contest with Fenerbahce and it went fairly well. The win is just what we needed to get the soccer world behind The Gunners again. The first half was something of a bore to me, but you could see Arsenal start to get comfortable on the ball and settle down after a while. The game looked like it could have gone either way, but remained nil-nil going to the break.

Theo had been showing off his pace very well and had torched the back line of Fenerbahce quite well, his final touches were just lacking early. Everyone started to link well with Santi and Theo swapping wings a few times and it finally paid off with a great break up the right wing. Gibbs slotted home with the beautiful finish on a well placed ball from Walcott, 1-0 good guys.

Ramsey had been linking some quick passes and looked alive in the first half. In my opinion he was one of the better players all game. The Wales player then stepped up to test the keeper and he succeeded with Arsenal's second of the night in Istanbul, 2-0. Good heads up playing from a player I look to really step up this season.

Walcott then came back to with blistering pace some more making consistent runs behind the defenders which paid off as he earned a PK from a slick move in front of the left back. Giroud then slotted home well from the spot to put the tie firmly in our hands for the second leg at home.

I am happy that the first leg has gone well as Fenerbahce's Champions League appeal could have thrown a massive headache into the story. The Court of Arbitration in Sport will decide the day after the return leg if they will be expelled from the competition and begin a two-year ban for match-fixing. I hope the Gunners grind out the next match and enter into their 17th consecutive champions league Group Stages.

As for the Koscielny injury, (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AzQL17U6xDc) I am confident he will recover with some stitches and rest. I don't see him being out for more than a week or so unless he has received a large concussion. Sagna played when he was moved in CB to cover. Personally I would like to see him sign a 1-2 year extension for overall depth in the squad.

My next post will go into some of the signings and potential the team have.

**Also a side note - David Villa with a great start to his Athletico career. What a lethal goal with the outside of his boot. Fantastic!!! 1-0 Madrid in the Spanish Super Copa first leg.
